University of London LLB
EU Law
The legal architecture of the European Union — and its continuing relevance to English law in a post-Brexit world.
About This Subject
EU Law remains part of the University of London LLB because European legal principles are deeply embedded in UK law and because understanding the EU legal order is essential for any lawyer advising on international or cross-border matters. The subject combines foundational constitutional principles — direct effect, supremacy, state liability — with substantive law on free movement and competition.
We teach EU Law clearly, including post-Brexit developments. You will understand what retained EU law is, how to answer exam questions in that context, and why the EU legal framework still matters to UK-qualified lawyers.
What You'll Be Able To Do
- ✓ Advise a client on EU law rights and potential state liability claims
- ✓ Apply the proportionality test to restrictions on free movement
- ✓ Navigate the direct/indirect effect distinction with precision

Why University of London LLB Students Choose London Law Lectures
